Kind-hearted brothers from a long-serving Ipswich business have continued their support for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) by handing over another cheque – bringing their overall total to nearly £23,000.
Whip Street Motors is run by Charlie, Jodhi, Kevin and Greg Baker and together they have been making donations to EACH, among other charities, since April 2007.
Their latest cheque, for £1,000, brought their tally to £23,838, and Charlie recently met EACH’s Senior Corporate Fundraiser for Suffolk and East Essex, Anna Bruce.
“We’re a successful business and believe it’s very important to give something back to our community,” he said.
“EACH is an amazing charity and one we’ve been happy to support for a number of years.
“In the past, we’ve had customers whose children have received care, and we’re fully aware of the difference it makes to families at a very difficult time in their lives.
“This is our way of helping, and we’re all immensely proud to have been making donations over such a long period of time.”
Whip Street Motors, a metal and vehicle recycling business, was founded by Geoff Baker, the brothers’ dad, in 1960.
It moved to its current location in Great Whip Street in 1962, and there is a second site in Paper Mill Lane, Bramford.
Anna said: “It was a pleasure to meet Charlie and receive another cheque from Whip Street Motors.
“They have been so kind and generous supporters for many years, and it’s hugely appreciated by everyone at EACH.
“Donations of this nature make such a difference in terms of allowing us to continue our vital work, caring for children and supporting families across Suffolk and the rest of East Anglia.”
