“Having social time together is vitally important and beneficial, and that’s why evenings like this are so unique” – thirsty dads come together for an evening of non-alcoholic beer and cider tasting

Dads bonded while putting their taste buds to the test during a special themed evening organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The session was for dads and male-identifying carers with children receiving care at The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

They came together for an evening of non-alcoholic beer and cider tasting, having the chance to sample five specifically-selected local or unusual products.

Three dads attended, and the evening was organised by EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator, Kelly Evans.

“We had a great night and lots of fun trying the drinks and comparing which ones we liked and disliked,” she said.

“We held a couple of these special dads’ nights last year and it was great to host our first one of 2025.

“Connecting people together is an important part of our service, and the emotional needs and wellbeing of dads can sometimes be overlooked.

“Life can be tough and it can be easy for them to lose touch with other guys.

“However, having social time together is vitally important and beneficial, and that’s why evenings like this are so unique.

“I’m excited to say we have plans for more events later in the year, which we were able to talk about and discuss on the night.”

The dads also heard more about exciting expansion plans for The Treehouse, as announced last month.

EACH has applied for planning permission, and, if successful, the project will include a stunning new hydrotherapy pool, a wellbeing and therapies suite and a bigger care activity area.

The major upgrade will also include a new soft-play room and a larger kitchen and dining area, to grow catering capacity for families.
