“We had lovely feedback afterwards, including someone saying it provided a night of ‘pure relaxation, indulgence and wellbeing’” – soothing pamper evening gives parents and carers an opportunity to recharge their batteries

Parents and carers came together for a well-earned night of rest, relaxation and friendship at The Nook.

The pamper evening was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and supported by colleagues from Center Parcs and Lush Cosmetics Norwich.

Fourteen family members attended – bereaved or those with a child receiving care – and highlights included massages and the chance to make relaxing bath bombs.

Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator, said: “It was another very soothing night, giving family members a chance to take some time for themselves.

“We had lovely feedback afterwards, including someone saying it provided a night of ‘pure relaxation, indulgence and wellbeing’.

“Several commented that they enjoyed meeting and spending time with new people, and one person said she always comes away from these evenings feeling ‘relaxed and happy’. She said ‘it’s time dedicated to myself, which is rare’.

“That’s great to hear and exactly what we’re trying to achieve.”

Three Center Parcs colleagues came along – two of whom spent time in the therapy rooms offering head, shoulder and upper-back massages. The other provided manicure sessions.

They were joined by three members of staff from Lush Cosmetics Norwich, who, as well as being able to offer expert advice on products, provided arm and hand rubs, using massage bars.

Everyone also had their own opportunity to make a bath bomb.

The pamper evening took place on Thursday, 27th March, and Clare was joined by The Nook Art Therapist Louise Bush and volunteer Sarah Dixon.
