“I spotted two mums exchanging numbers, after having a conversation about their children. It was lovely to see, and essentially what sessions of this nature are all about” – songs and stories group is themed around fairies and elves

Fairies and elves provided the inspiration for a magical songs and stories session hosted by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The enchanting morning was for children receiving care at Milton, and they were joined by parents and siblings.

The day started with a colourful craft session, when they got to decorate their own magic wands.

They then went outside to hunt for fairies hidden in the hospice’s sensory garden.

The musical section of the day was themed around the classic children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – although adapted to be We’re Going on a Fairy Hunt.

“We used lots of instruments including a harp, bells and chimes to recreate some of the noises in the story,” said Ceri Dobson, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at Milton.

“Each one related to a different part of our journey, and it was great fun.

“We also had two other songs – When You Wish Upon a Star and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Fairy.

“The children enjoyed themselves, and I also spotted two mums exchanging phone numbers, after having a conversation about their children.

“It was lovely to see, and essentially what sessions of this nature are all about – bringing people together.”
